Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences

The Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at the ZhejiangUniversity was founded in 1980, and was one of the first institutes of psychology in China. The history of the Department can be traced to the Psychology Department at the NationalZhejiangUniversity in late 1920.

Over the last 10 years, the facilities for teaching and research at the department have been greatly enhanced with the support from the National “211” Project, the “Tenth Five” Plan and university construct programs. As the result, the Applied Psychology Program is recognized by the National Ministry of Education as the National Key Discipline.

The department has a National key Laboratory of Industrial Psychology, a National Training Base for Basic Research and Teaching Professionals in Psychology, and a Post-doctoral station, which consist of the main teaching and research base of department. The Department currently has 32 staff members, including 11 full Professors and 8 Associate Professors, 220 undergraduate students, and about 220 graduate students, of which about 50 are registered for Doctor Degree. Teaching and administration are mainly conducted by the department, while academic research is organized in two research institutes of the department, the Institute of Applied Psychology and the Institute of Cognition and Developmental Psychology.
