The Faculty of Science is constituted of five schools and departments: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Psychology & Behavioral Sciences. Four special committees have been set up, including the Academic Committee, the Academic Degrees Committee. At present, there are 23 research institutes.

The Faculty of Science holds 4 National Basic Research & Teaching Personnel Training Bases in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry and psychology; 2 National Teaching Bases for Basic Engineering Courses for physics and chemistry; 2 teaching teams at national level in mathematical modeling & practice and fundamental courses of chemistry; 1 State Specialized Laboratory of Industrial Psychology; 3 Provincial Key Laboratories of Zhejiang Province in applied chemistry, resource & environment information system, quantum technology and devices; 1 National Natural Science Funds for Innovation Research Group: ’theory, calculation and application of partial differential equation inverse problem’ innovation research group; 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education: ‘unconventional superconductivity and strongly correlated electron systems’ innovation team; 2 research center of the Ministry of Education: structural research center of oil & gas bearing basin and research center for magnetic confinement fusion; 1 national  Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center: chemistry laboratory center, and 3 Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center: physics laboratory center, earth sciences laboratory center and psychology sciences laboratory center.

The Faculty of Science has 5 National Key Disciplines, including mathematics, chemistry, theoretical physics, condensed matter physics and applied psychology, and 8 Provincial Key Disciplines.

The Faculty of Science has 5 postdoctoral research stations in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, geognosy and psychology, as well as 5 doctoral programs in the primary disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry, geognosy and psychology. There are 12 undergraduate programs.

As of September 2018, the Faculty of Science has 658 faculty/staff members, including 423 full-time teachers, 233 full professors and 150 associate professors. There are 10 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 6 members of the Recruitment Program of Global Experts, 18 members of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 11 members of the Changjiang Scholars Program, 3 Zhejiang special experts. There are 1632 undergraduates and 1839 graduate students, of which 881 are Ph.D. candidates.

Inheriting the academic spirit of Seeking the Truth, the Faculty commits itself to cultivate talents with knowledge, ability and morality, independent thinking, ambition, broad horizon, and international competitiveness. They also have the spirit of seeking the truth and innovation and are able to play important roles in the realm of education, S&T, culture, etc.. In recent years, the Faculty has achieved a lot in talent cultivation, scientific research, discipline construction, etc., and it has been striving toward the goal of Reviving the science education of Zhejiang University.
